The age-old
question is asked, “Why
am I here?”
Then we come to pondering, “What am I going to do with my life?”
And finally arrive at wondering, “Why am I still here?”
Some children
might not live past the womb or through their childhood years.
Some young adults
might die from a drug overdose or in a car accident.
The elderly
might succumb to a heart attack, cancer, or kidney disease.
But what about
the person who has lived a long life and reaches into their 80s and 90s? Do
they still want to remain on this earth?
Why do
any of us live to the age that we do?
Maybe
this is a worthy explanation . . .
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise . . . instead
He is patient with you,
NOT
WANTING ANYONE TO PERISH,
but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
God
wants us to stay on this earth as long as it takes to accept Him into our
heart. He offers every opportunity and untold chances to make the decision for
salvation, even if it takes up to the point of our death.
Eternity . . . there
are only two destinations . . . heaven or hell?
Why would anyone not want to know a loving Savior?
Why would anyone
continue to be resistant to the point of hell?
Why would anyone
choose that destination rather than surrender to Him?
Jesus is a
Gentlemen and does not force Himself on anyone.
We all have free
will to choose Him or not, but if we ask this question . . .
“Why am I still here,”
maybe this is
the answer . . .
HE
DOES NOT WISH THAT YOU SHOULD PERISH
BUT TO
COME TO REPENTANCE . . .
Why?
Because He wants
you to be with Him in heaven for all eternity.
You could be
gone in the twinkling of an eye, with no time for repentance,
so your last prayer should be,
“Lord, save me
and take me home to be with You. I’m ready now!”
Are you
sure of your destination!
